Moldova has six development partners from Germany
As the visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Moldova on August 22 draws near, it is noteworthy that Moldova enjoys Germany’s support especially in development projects. Thus, six German institutions and organizations are considered cooperation partners for Moldova’s development, Info-Prim Neo learned from the German Embassy in Chisinau.
Since 1994, Germany has provided technical and financial help to Moldova, which faced diverse problems since its independence. The cooperation partners for development are the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Embassy and Germany’s International Cooperation Agency (GIZ). Assistance for development means not only international projects, but local ones as well. The German Embassy allots nearly €80,000 yearly for financing 5 to 10 projects.
GIZ promotes cooperation between the German and Moldovan governments since 1994. Since then, a series of important development projects have been implemented, meant to facilitate the transition from planned economy to market economy. In Moldova, GIZ works in the fields of agriculture, food processing industry, professional training and modernization of utilities.
The Center for International Migration and Development is the staff recruiter of the German cooperation for development. Currently, CIM has seven experts working in Moldova. The Senior Experts Service is the Foundation of German Industry for International Cooperation. SES offers interested retirees the opportunity to pass on their skills and knowledge to others, both within Germany and abroad. About 650 senior experts worked in Moldova since 1993.
The Credit Institute for Reconstruction- Development Bank implements financial cooperation under the mandate of the federal government. The Institute is one of the main instruments of the German bilateral cooperation and provides financing for development projects.
