Moldova has COVID-19 vaccines for at least one month and a half

Over 6% of Moldova’s population has been vaccinated against COVID-19 so far. The highest vaccination rate is in the capital city. The immunization pace goes up, Denis Cernelea, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, told a news conference.

“Currently, we have vaccines for at least a month and a half, without taking into account the lots of vaccine doses that are to be delivered soon. The colleagues from the Ministry and the National Public Health Agency work daily and have talks with large producers on the purchase of vaccine,” stated Denis Cernelea, being quoted by IPN.

Last week, the number of infections was by 22% low than a week before. However, the safety measures cannot be yet relaxed. The reduction in the number of cases is due to the vaccination campaign that focuses primarily on persons who are exposed to risks and also to the immunity acquired the past half a year, explained the official.

He also said that more than 270 Red Cross volunteers as from this week will be trained to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of vaccination. Ninel Revenco, coordinator of the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign, will be among the trainers.
