The Moldova – EU Interparliamentary Committee meets in Strasbourg in France on October 25 and 26. Deputy Speaker of Parliament Iurie Leanca, after the meeting of the Parliamentary Council for European Integration in the evening of October 20, said they agreed an agenda that covers the key problems of Moldova, the reforms under implementation and the problems faced in the bilateral relations between Moldova and the EU, IPN reports.
According to Iurie Leanca, the meeting centered on problems, accomplishments, challenges and the support that Moldova could get from the EU and the European Parliament. “The information is enough for understanding where we are and what should be done. It will help is address key issues, explain particular situations and seek additional support in particular areas where the more active involvement of the EU is needed,” stated the Deputy Speaker.
The ex-Premier noted that the preparations for the meeting of October 25-26 will continue on October 23. When back from Strasbourg, a new meeting of the Parliamentary Council for European Integration will be convened to consider the preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit of this November. “I hope the meeting in Strasbourg will be efficient and will help us later in the communication with the European Parliament, the other EU institutions and in everything that means the reform process in Chisinau,” stated Iurie Leanca.
He also said that Parliament will intensify the process of monitoring the reforms done by the Government to implement the provisions of the Association Agreement that includes the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. In the Council’s meeting, deputy minister of foreign affairs Daniela Morari said the reform agenda implementation level stands at 76%.
The Parliamentary Council for European Integration created in 2016 aims to ensure a mechanism of communication, coordination, consultation and cooperation in the European integration process in Moldova and to adjust the national legislation to the EU’s.
