President Igor Dodon said that as it was anticipated, the number of citizens infected with COVID-19 has increased at the beginning of April and the novel coronavirus outbreak is set to peak in mid-April. It is estimated that the number of infections the coming days will exceed 1,000.

As regards the towns of Soroca and Ștefan Vodă, which are in quarantine, President Dodon said that if this regime is not respected, other measures will be taken there. The authorities will have to restrict the exits from the house and to allow these only based on a permit. The issue will be discussed on April 6.

Igor Dodon said the situation is also worrisome in Glodeni, where 18 new cases of infection with COVID-19, 11 of which among doctors, were confirmed today. COVID-19 tests will be performed massively among frontline medical personnel. When the 100,000 test kits from China arrive in Moldova, all the healthcare workers will be tested for COVID-19.
