Moldova, Georgia to intensify parliamentary cooperation

Moldova and Georgia will strengthen cooperation in all the areas, especially at parliamentary level. The Heads of Parliament of the two states, Igor Corman and David Usupashvili, agreed this in a meeting. The Georgian official is in Chisinau on a visit, which is the first made by a Georgian speaker to Moldova, IPN reports.

In a joint press beefing held after the meeting, Igor Corman said that they discussed the European course of the two states, the impact of the Association Agreement with the EU on Moldova and Georgia, and states’ expectations after the accord’s implementation.

The officials also spoke about the liberalization of the visa regime between Moldova and the EU from April 28. Igor Corman wished success to the Georgian authorities that are to be granted such a regime next year.  

Igor Corman and David Usupashvili underlined the necessity of developing the bilateral relations. The best format of the future cooperation will be agreed by the end of the Georgian official’s visit.

David Usupashvili also had meetings with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, President Nicolae Timofti, and members of the Moldova-Georgia friendship group.
