Moldova expresses concern about situation in Ukraine

Moldova expresses its deep concern about the latest developments in Ukraine, especially about the situation on the Crimean Peninsula and the military action taken by the Russian Federation. It underlines the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and the principles of the international law, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the presidential press service.

In order to prevent actions that can lead to the further destabilization of the situation in the region, Moldova urges immediately using all the international mechanisms for solving the crisis exclusively by diplomatic ways, reads the communiqué.

A communiqué from the Government’s press service says that Prime Minister Iurie Leanca will discuss the events in Ukraine and regional security as matters of urgency with a number of U.S. officials, including Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry, while on an official visit to the United States. He will emphasize that stability and security are important not only for Moldova, but also for the whole region.
