The Moldova – EU Parliamentary Association Committee will have a meeting in France’s Strasbourg on October 25. The Moldovan delegation consists of Deputy Speaker Iurie Leanca, co-chairman of the Committee, MP Igor Vremea, deputy chairman of the Committee, and MPs Sergiu Sarbu, Gheorghe Mocanu, and Oxana Domenti. The event will last for two days, IPN reports.
According to the Parliament’s press service, the agenda of the meeting includes an exchange of opinions on the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the EU, the current implementation stage of the Association Agreement, sector reforms, cooperation in the energy sector, public administration reform, trade and related issues. Other discussions will center on financial services and the current situation in the Moldovan banking sector. There will be analyzed the observance of the basic human rights and fundamental freedoms, especially the freedom of the media, and the electoral system reform.
Discussions will also be held on the provision of the macro-financial assistance by the EU to Moldova and on Moldova’s pro-European commitment in the context of the Eastern Partnership Summit of November 24, 2017.
At the end, the meeting will adopt a statement and will formulate recommendations.
The Committee is chaired by a representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and by a representative of the European Parliament. The current co-chairmen are Iurie Leanca and Andi Cristea. The last meeting of the Committee was held in Chisinau in May.
