Moldova-EU Association Council convenes Tuesday in Brussels

The eighth meeting of the Moldova-European Union Association Council will take place on Tuesday, May 21, in Brussels. The sides will discuss the evolution of the relations with the EU in terms of the implementation of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, as well as the preparations for the opening of accession negotiations. Also, the Moldova-EU Security and Defense Partnership is to be signed, IPN reports.

The Moldovan delegation will be led by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gerasimov. The meeting will be co-chaired by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borell and Prime Minister Dorin Recean, with the participation of the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi.

Two important documents for Moldova will be signed at the meeting of the Association Council: the Moldova-EU Security and Defense Partnership and the Agreement on Moldova’s participation in the Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) program, which will allow accessing funds for the implementation of social policies.
