Moldova does not have many businesswomen

One third of the businesspersons in Moldova are women and this figure is very low. The women bring a higher value to businesses and remind the men what correctness and balance mean, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said in the launch of the Women in the Business Program, Info-Prim Neo reports. The program launched by the Business Advisory Services (BAS) EBRD with financial support from the Government of Sweden will be implemented during 2012-2014. It aims to promote and encourage the Moldovan women to develop a career in business or to start their own businesses. BAS will co-finance up to 70% of the total const of the consultancy project, or at most €10,000. It will organize roundtable meetings, seminars and training courses for female entrepreneurs. Within the program, there will be held activities to promote the women’s entrepreneurship and presented success stories about businesswomen. The companies that can apply to become beneficiaries of the program must be managed by women or have at least 60% of female employees. The total number of employees should not exceed 500. The companies working in the banking sector, gambling, tobacco production and military production and services cannot apply. The applicants must be able to pay at least 40% total const of the consultancy project.
