Moldova counts on Belgium’s support in obtaining European prospects, Marian Lupu
The recent visits paid to Moldova by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso are regarded as a powerful encouragement message, while Moldova counts on the support of Belgium, which is an important pillar of the EU, in obtaining a clear European prospect, Speaker Marian Lupu said in a meeting with the President of the Belgian Senate Sabine de Bethune and President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives Andre Flahaut on December 4, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from Parliament, the Speaker stated that the Moldovans see the European integration as an opportunity for the progress and internal modernization of Moldova, which implies the implementation of structural reforms in different fields, the EU representing a development model for Moldova. He reiterated the interest in developing the economic cooperation. Currently, in Moldova there are 44 joint companies with Belgian capital.
Marian Lupu also said that the Alliance for European Integration concentrates its efforts on the promotion of the reforms needed for the country’s integration into the EU. In the end of the meeting, he invited the two Belgian officials to pay an official visit to Moldova.
