Last year Moldova was visited by 13,000 tourists, while 147,000 Moldovans went to visit other countries. The data reveal a negative balance in the tourism industry, Tourism Agency director Nicolae Platon said in a news conference on June 7, quoted by IPN.

Freshly named to the post, Nicolae Platon said there is a lot of work to be done in the field of tourism, but the situation can be changed by developing incoming and internal tourism.

Nicolae Platon also said that according to the National Bureau of Statistics, the turnover on the tourism market of Moldova is 1.6 billion lei.
