Moldova condemns Berlin terrorist attack

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova firmly condemns the December 19 deadly terrorist attack in central Berlin.

Representatives of the Embassy of Moldova in Berlin made approaches to the local authorities to find out if the victims involved Moldovans.

The Ministry expresses its solidarity with the German authorities, its profound regret for the loss of human lives and compassion for the grieving families. The Ministry reiterates Moldova’s firm commitment to fight all forms of terrorism and reasserts the necessity of combining forces and stepping up international efforts to combat these.

According to the BBC, an articulated lorry has ploughed into a busy Christmas market in the heart of Berlin, killing 12 people and injuring 48. Officials in Germany described the deadly crash as an apparent terrorist attack, but no one has claimed responsibility for this yet. It is said that the driver of the truck was an asylum seeker from Afghanistan or Pakistan who had arrived in Germany in February.
