Moldova is drawing close to 5,000 cases of COVID-19 that were recorded since the start of the pandemic. Of the 4,995 persons who contracted the novel coronavirus, 2,069 got cured, while 179 died. 2,747 are active cases, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the novel coronavirus on May 12 caused three more deaths, of a woman aged 64 from Edineț, a woman aged 80 from the municipality of Chisinau and a 60-year-old man from Orhei.

Of those who became infected, 238 are in a serious state in the hospital, with 19 of them being connected to mechanical ventilation.

As many as 89 persons were discharged from the hospital on May 11.
