The national football team of Moldova climbed three spots to the 158th in the FIFA rankings for this month released on July 6, IPN reports.
The team trained by Igor Dobrovolski is to play matches against Serbia in Belgrade on September 2 and against Wales in Chisinau on September 5 within the qualifying competition of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Among Moldova’s opponents in Group D of the qualifying rounds, Wales has the best position – 20th. Ireland ranks 29th, Austria – 37th, Serbia – 42nd, while Georgia – 112th.
The FIFA rankings are topped by Germany, which recently won the FIFA Confederations Cup. This is followed by Brazil and Argentina. The next rankings will be made public on August 10.
