The national football team of Moldova went up to the 162nd position in the FIFA rankings after the draw with Georgia in Tbilisi. Thus, the team trained by Igor Dobrovolski climbed 11 spots, IPN reports.

On March 24, 2017, Moldova meets Austria in Vienna. The match forms part of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying competition. Austria ranks 31st. The other opponents of Moldova of the current qualification campaign take the following positions: Wales – 12th, Ireland – 23rd, Serbia – 44th, while Georgia – 119th.

The FIFA rankings are topped by Argentina. It is followed by Brazil and Germany. The next rankings will be released on December 22.
