Moldova – CIS’ laggard as regards industry indexes

Moldova is ranked one of the lasts amid Commonwealth of Independent States pursuant to industrial indexes registered in January-August 2006, according to the information of the Interstate Statistics Committee of CIS. Because of the reduction by 5.7% of the industrial production, Moldova is the last but one, above Kyrgyzstan, where the industrial production decreased by 9.6%. The highest industrial increase, in January-August 2006, compared with the similar period of last year was achieved by Azerbaijan – 40.5%, followed by Belarus – 12.7%. In Kazakhstan, the industrial production increased in eight months by 6.6%, in Tajikistan – by 5.7%, in Ukraine – by 5.4%, in Russia – by 4.3% and in Armenia the industrial production went down 0.9%. Georgia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan did not present information on industrial evolution. On average, the industrial production in CIS increased by 5.5% in eight months.
