The Republic of Moldova celebrates the sixth anniversary of the liberalization of the visa regime with the European Union. Starting with 2014, the number of Moldovans who have benefitted from the liberalized visa regime has increased continuously, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the General Border Police Inspectorate of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
During the six years, over 2.3 million Moldovans entered or left Moldova through the border crossing points with Romania and the Chisinau International Airport. The Leușeni-Albița customs post was the most popular one, being followed by the Chisinau International Airport.
The Moldovan young people aged between 26 and 35 most often travel to the EU, being followed by those aged over 46.
As of April 28, 2014, the Moldovan citizens holding biometric passports can travel freely in the Schengen area for a 90-day period during six months.
