Moldova can sign Association Agreement with EU this year, Czech Premier

The Republic of Moldova has chances of signing the Association Agreement with the EU this year, at the Eastern Partnership Summit of November, but political stability is needed in the country for this to happen, said First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg, who is in Chisinau on a visit, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Czech official said that the Moldovan politicians must realize the importance of the internal political stability and ensure it fully. He stressed that Moldova made significant progress compared with 2010, when he was in Chisinau the last time. According to Karel Schwarzenberg, all the governments make mistakes, but Moldova should continue its path to European integration. The country is now in a difficult situation because the EU member states are more cautious when accepting new members or granting the status of accession candidate. In a news conference held jointly with his Czech counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said the Czech delegation that came to Chisinau includes businessmen and this is a sign that they have an interest in Moldova and may make investments here. A Moldovan-Czech business forum involving representatives of Czech economic entities is taking place in Chisinau on March 1.
