In the near future, the EU policy on the Eastern Partnership may be reviewed. Then Moldova can detach itself and go towards the integration into the EU ahead of the other EaP countries, considers journalist Anatol Caciuc, program director at Radio Moldova.
“There were provided arguments in favor of Moldova. I understood that it will benefit from such an attitude in continuation. This more special attitude towards Moldova appeared after Ukraine gave up signing the Association Agreement with the EU,” Anatol Caciuc has told IPN while in Vilnius. The journalist believes that this attitude is rather a respect for what Moldova managed to achieve and continues to be kept because the country remained in the first line.
In Vilnius, Anatol Caciuc discussed with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius, who said that Moldova is the hope of the Eastern Partnership now that Ukraine and Armenia gave up associating with the EU. “The minister confirmed that Moldova had a good behavior during the negotiations and that it fulfilled the EU requirements. He is very optimistic and believes that Moldova will benefit from a liberalized visa regime with the EU,” stated Anatol Caciuc.
In the Vilnius EaP Summit on November 29, Moldova initialed the Association Agreement with the EU. The accord’s provisions will be made public at the start of next week. Afterward, there will be carried out information campaigns and held discussions on them. Chisinau expects that the agreement will be signed next autumn at the latest.
