Moldova buys another 5,000 sets of rabies vaccine

The Republic of Moldova purchased another 5,000 sets of rabies vaccine produced by an Indian company, the National Health Insurance Company announced. The institution said it will allocate 652,000 from the fund of prophylaxis measures for the vaccines, IPN reports.

This is the second batch of rabies vaccine bought this year. The preparations were delivered on Wednesday, September 11, to the National Vaccine Warehouse of the National Public Health Agency.

The rabies vaccine is indicated for the prevention of rabies in children and adults, as primary immunization. In the Republic of Moldova, immunization against rabies is free of charge, and the vaccine administered in a timely manner ensures a high degree of protection.

The National Public Health Agency’s data show that in the first six months of this year, 1,225 people were attacked by animals in Chisinau municipality, up by 9.5% compared to the same period last year. Also, in the first half of this year, the National Center for Veterinary Diagnostics examined 55 animals suspected of rabies, the virus being detected in six of them.
