Moldova becomes member of Association of Constitutional Justice of States from Black Sea and Baltic Regions

The Constitutional Court of Moldova, in concert with similar institutions from another thee states, founded the Association of Constitutional Justice of the States from the Black Sea and Baltic Regions. The statement on the foundation of the association was signed at the beginning of this week by the presidents of the Constitutional Courts of Moldova, Lithuania, Georgia, and Ukraine, IPN reports.

The statement underlines the important role played by the constitutional courts in ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution and constitutional justice, the respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, underlining the necessity of respecting the independence and sovereignty of the states and their territorial integrity. One of the goals of the association is to mutually represent the interests of the regional constitutional courts in international constitutional justice and at European organizations.

The association invites other institutions that exercise constitutional justice to join in. The Constitutional Court of Moldova will hold the association’s chairmanship next year.
