Moldova’s tennis team was beaten by Portugal 2-3 at the Davis Cup world championship. Thus, Moldova failed to qualify for the Cup’s first group, IPN reports.

The team championship was held in Chisinau on September 13-15. On the last day of the competition, Moldova had the same score as Portugal after Radu Albot defeated Joao Sousa in five sets.

The last match was lost by Moldova’s Maxim Dubarenco to Portugal’s Rui Machado in three sets by 7:5, 6:1, 6:3. Therefore, Portugal qualified for the first group of the Davis Cup.
