The iodinated drinking water “aqua unIQa” made in Moldova won a gold medal at the 39th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, Switzerland, as in 2009. More than 1,000 inventions from all over the world were exhibited there, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the producer Gelibert. The medal was awarded for the originality of the invention by the exhibit's funding president Jean-Luc Vincent and the international jury headed by academician David Taji. One of the qualities of the iodinated drinking water “aqua unIQa” is its anticancerous effect. According to the communique, the Iranian oil company Palayesh Espadana Oil and the well-known Australian company Everpure PTY Ltd expressed interest in marketing “aqua unIQa”. Negotiations will be soon opened to establish business partnerships. At the exhibition, Moldovan scientists provided arguments in favor of the idea that the scientific potential of Moldova is an indispensable element in promoting its image abroad and in developing it. “We projected the result. We were sure that the commission of experts will appreciate the originality of the invention,” said Moldovan academician Aurelian Gulea, who made the mathematical model and scientifically proved the anticancerous effect of the water. “We are proud that we won these medals and that we managed to prove the difference between the product presented by us and the ordinary products available on the market. We must make effort to improve all the national products,” said professor Grigore Friptuleac, chair of the Hygiene Department of the University of Medicine “Nicolae Testimitanu” and scientific manager of the study made to create the iodinated water. The company Gelibert thanked the scientists who presented the product at the exhibit and voiced hope that science in Moldova will benefit from more support in the future.
