Prime Minister Vlad Filat, in a bilateral meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Boiko Borisov, requested Bulgaria, as an EU member state, to remain an active supporter of Moldova in promoting the dialogue with the EU institutions. He said that Moldova is ready to accept Bulgarian investments and is interested in establishing cooperation relations in the agricultural sector, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Premier is paying an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Boiko Borisov. He is accompanied by a number of Cabinet members. Vlad Filat descried the meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart as very good, saying progress was made as regards the cooperation in the economic and humanitarian spheres. Trade with Bulgaria in 2011 rose by 50% to over US$100 million. “It is a positive trend, but the bilateral relations should be developed further,” said Vlad Filat. “Bulgaria continues to provide support to Moldova in the European integration process and we expect Prime Minister Boiko Borisov to pay a visit to our country. We hope to organize on this occasion a joint meeting of the Governments of Moldova and Bulgaria so as to plan important common actions concerning the bilateral and international relations.” For his part, Boiko Borisov said that Moldova takes firm steps on the path to European integration and makes economic progress. He voiced hope that the entire society will support Prime Minister Vlad Filat in his efforts to bring Moldova closer to the large European family. He spokes about the development of relations in the tourism sector, saying the number of Moldovan tourists rose two times, and underlined the new economic and energy cooperation possibilities with Moldova. He pleaded for the development of the cultural relations. The bilateral meeting was followed by an extended meeting of the official delegations. The representatives of the Governments of Moldova and Bulgaria signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in emergencies.
