Moldova and Ukraine have signed two agreements that will contribute to the swifter and easier crossing of the border between the two states. These are the agreement on the exchange of information concerning the persons and units of transport by which the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border is crossed and the protocol on the organization of joint control at the Pervomaisc-Kuchurhan international border crossing point, IPN reports.
The two agreements were signed by the head of the Border Police Department of Moldova Dorin Purice and the head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko.
According to the signatories, the first agreement will increase transparency concerning the movement of vehicles and goods over the border and could also spare the foreigners who enter the Transnistrian region from registering their stay with the Moldovan migration authorities. “By signing these two major documents, we will solve the problems that we could not solve until now, in particular the online exchange of information. We will now possess all the necessary information and this thing will contribute to combing crime and illegal migration. Furthermore, we will be able to monitor the foreigners who enter Moldova,” stated Dorin Purice.
The protocol on the organization of joint control will allow the entrepreneurs who had to avoid this part of the border to save time and money and will enable to avoid double clearance in Chisinau and Tiraspol. “The joint control diminishes risks related to corruption and allows to more efficiently use the border police bodies of the two states and to improve the quality of border control,” said Viktor Nazarenko.
The two accords were signed in the meeting of the Consultative Council of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM). This Mission, as other EU bodies, assisted specialists from the border agencies of Moldova and Ukraine by teaching them the best joint border control practices.
