Moldova’s exclusion from the list of countries posing migration risks drawn up by the Government of Ukraine and the suspension of restrictions on the Ukrainian border for Moldovan citizens depend on the development of the bilateral political dialogue, Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said at a news conference held in Chisinau on November 3 together with Raisa Bogatyreva, the secretary of the Supreme Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We expect that the Moldovan authorities will also tackle the problems raised by us,” Raisa Bogatyreva said. In August this year, the Ukrainian Rada decided that the citizens of seven countries that pose migration risks, including Moldova, will have to confirm that they possess 12,600 Hrivnas or the equivalent in freely convertible currency when entering Ukraine, regardless of the length of stay. In the news conference, Leanca and Bogatyreva confirmed that there had been no political dialogue between Moldova and Ukraine during a certain period. Raisa Bogatyreva said the program of her working visit to Chisinau includes discussions on how the agreements reached by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko during his recent visit to Moldova will be put into practice. The parties agreed to reestablish the commercial and economic relations. In this connection, Raisa Bogatyreva said that Ukraine has already set up an intergovernmental commission that will deal with this. The commission is headed by the Ukrainian Minister of Fuel and Energy Iuri Prodan. The Moldovan authorities are also to create a commission of experts. Speaking about the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, the Ukrainian official said that the Yushchenko plan that provides for the democratic resolution of the dispute in the 5+2 format remains available, regardless of the political developments in Ukraine. Raisa Bogatyreva said she will tell the same message to the Tiraspol officials at a meetings set for November 4. The two officials announced that Moldova and Ukraine will soon sign an agreement on the observance of the rights of the national minorities of the two countries.
