The road and air transport between Moldova and Ukraine will become more liberalized after the governments of the two states on April 12 signed two documents on international road transport and air transport services, IPN reports, with reference to the Government’s press service.

In the road transport sector, there was signed a protocol to amend the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Ukraine of March 20, 1993. The changes were necessary given that trade between Moldova and Ukraine is on the rise. Consequently, the international freight transportation in bilateral regime and in transit for motor vehicles that meet the norms EURO III and up will be possible without authorizations for international transport.

The Agreement on Air Services between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Cabinet of Ukraine will regulate the air passenger and freight transport services between the two states. The document substitutes the Agreement on Air Services between Moldova and Ukraine of March 20, 1993. The new provisions will create conditions for developing air transport in accordance with the international standards and will facilitate the activity of air operators, creating preconditions for increasing the number of airlines that will operate flights between the two countries. The enhanced competition on the air services market will generate a better quality of the provided services and will contribute to reducing airline ticket prices.

The same day, there was signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, concerning common measures to foster the European integration processes in order to ensure the synchronous functioning of the energy systems of the two states and the system of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E).
