Moldova and Ukraine begin negotiations for a new Social Security Agreement

The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine have initiated negotiations for a new Agreement in the field of social security. Officials discussed aspects related to ensuring the right to old-age, disability, and survivor pensions, as well as compensation for work accidents and occupational diseases for Moldovan and Ukrainian citizens residing permanently in the other country, IPN reports.

According to the National Social Insurance House (CNAS), the new Social Security Agreement will replace the provisions outlined in the Agreement on Guaranteeing Citizens' Rights in Pension Insurance, signed on August 29, 1995, between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Ukraine, as well as the Agreement on the Transfer and Reciprocal Payment of Pensions, signed on October 23, 1998, between the Moldovan Social Fund and the Ukrainian Pension Fund.

The Moldovan negotiation team includes representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Social Insurance House, and the National Council for the Determination of Disability and Work Capacity.
