Moldova and North Carolina sign memorandum of cooperation

Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina Walter P. Dalton signed a memorandum of cooperation for a five-year period, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Moldovan Government's press service. The memorandum was signed during Moldovan Premier's visit to the U.S that will last until January 23. This is the third memorandum of cooperation between Moldova and North Carolina. The first was signed in 1999, but the cooperation between the two parties started in 1994. The memorandum envisions cooperation at multiple levels for the parties' benefit, including exchange of experience in education, trade, good governance and other areas. “I thank you in the name of the Moldovan Government and people for your attitude towards our country,” Vlad Filat said. Before the signing of the memorandum, Vlad Filat had a meeting with Walter P. Dalton and North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, where they discussed possibilities of making the document more efficient. Walter P. Dalton said he was sure the relations between Moldova and North Carolina will continue to develop, while Elaine Marshall said these relations in 2010 came of age. The U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Asif J. Chaudry also took part in the meeting.
