The strengthening of the bilateral Moldovan-Czech contacts, including in the energy sector, and the augmentation of trade were some of the subjects discussed by Head of Parliament Andrian Candu and his Czech counterpart Jan Hamáček in a meeting in Prague. The two officials also conferred on the ensuring of political and economic stability in Moldova, IPN reports.
The officials welcomed the excellent bilateral cooperation relations established at all the levels and pleaded for extending the bilateral contacts, especially in economy. Andrian Candu and Jan Hamáček expressed their satisfaction with the volume of trade that totals about €75 million a year and can be yet developed.
The Czech official urged the Moldovan authorities to accelerate the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU and to continue reforms. “The Czech Republic will continue to support Moldova in its European integration and reformation efforts,” stated Jan Hamáček.
For his part, Andrian Candu underlined the legislative priories of the current session, saying the agendas of the Government and Parliament were synchronized in a move to carry out the overdue measures stipulated in the Association Agreement. “We are associated with the Europa Union and undertook to regain the people’s and external partners’ confidence in a shorter period of time by concrete actions and deadlines for implementing the Association Agreement and doing reforms,” he said.
Andrian Candu and Jan Hamáček also discussed the readiness of the Czech Republic, which now holds the presidency of the Visegrad Group (V4), to actively support Chisinau by maintaining Moldova on the agenda of priorities of the V4, which will meet in Prague in April, and agreed to constitute a broader interparliamentary cooperation format, including for training parliamentary functionaries in the European integration process.
Andrian Candu invited his counterpart to pay a new official visit to Moldova this autumn so as to take part in the events that will be held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the proclamation of Moldova’s independence.
