Moldova Agroindbank tops the rankings of the commercial banks with the best performance, being followed by Mobiasbanca and Moldindconbank. The rankings were compiled by experts of the Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup” based on the bank performance assessment methodology at the end of this May. Amid enhanced performance, ProCreditBank and BCR Chisinau improved their ratings compared with the previous months, IPN reports.
The experts said the banks with the most solid capital basis in relation to assets are: BCR Chisinau; Eximbank and EuroCreditBank. The banks with the largest liquid assets are: Victoriabank; Eximbank and BCR Chisinau. The banks with assets of the highest quality are: FinComBank; Mobiasbanca and EuroCreditBank. The banks with the highest return on capital are: Moldindconbank; Mobiasbanca and Moldova-Agroindbank, while the banks with the largest market share by the loan portfolio are: Moldova-Agroindbank; Moldindconbank and Mobiasbanca.
According to “Expert-Grup”, at the end of this May the main financial and prudential indicators of the commercial banks continued to improve both aggregately and individually.
The risk weighted assets remain at over 30% all over the banking sector, oscillating at around 30% for large banks and at over 50% for small ones. Bank liquidity remains much over the regulated limits and the limits recommended by the bank practice. This amplifies the appearance of increasing opportunity costs. Nevertheless, the banks continued to constantly accumulate profit based on a consistent banking margin, positive differences in the exchange rate and active use of monetary policy instruments, especially the National Bank certificates and mandatory reserves.
Thus, the profit made by the banks in the first five months of 2018 came to about 734.5 million lei, being negatively influenced by the losses sustained by one bank (Eximbank – 113 million lei following assets restructuring and taking over by new shareholders).
