Moldova 2010 Business Week expects investors June 22-25
During June 22-25, Chisinau will host the 2010 Moldova Business Week. “The event aims to present to the potential investors the new investment attracting instruments proposed by Moldova, like the industrial parks, the free economic zones and the public-private partnerships”, stated Economy Minister Valeriu Lazar at a press conference today, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Three plenary sessions will take place on the first day to present the governmental programs aimed at attracting foreign and domestic investment. These sessions will be followed by open discussions. Independent experts and consulting companies will offer their opinions on the investment opportunities in Moldova.
The agenda also includes a business forum that will feature over 150 business representatives from Romania, with other meetings featuring businessmen from Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Poland. The Vienna Economic Forum will be held on June 24 and 25. An exhibition of investment projects will be held throughout the event.
“We invite all the companies and interested individuals to submit projects to the Ministry of Economy so that we can show them to potential investors”, said Valeriu Lazar.
The minister specified that after a record amount of foreign investment attracted in 2008 – over $750m – the figure plummeted to $70m in 2009.
“It is not that investors left Moldova, at least not the major ones. However, some investment projects have been suspended and we hope not for too long. (…) Although it looks that exports have increased and sales have risen, relaunches at a company level seem to have not occurred yet”, said the minister.
Costs of 2010 Moldova Business Week are estimated at 1.6 million lei, which will be covered by export promotion funds and partially by sponsors.
