Moldexpo to coordinate repair works on Moscow Exhibition Center pavilion
Moldexpo will coordinate the repair works on pavilion No. 10 of the Moscow Exhibitions Center. The Russian authorities promised to lease out 2,693 square meters of exhibition space to Moldova for a period of 50 years at the symbolic price of 1 Russian ruble, if the necessary repair works are done, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“An estimated US$20 million is needed to rehabilitate the pavilion. No money has been budgeted for the purpose. We decided to implement this idea by a public-private partnership project. The contest to select the potential investor was announced and extended two times. Unfortunately, the investor hasn’t been found,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said on October 3, explaining the reason why this lease contract will be signed by the state-owned company Moldexpo.
The company does not have the necessary US$20 million to rehabilitate the pavilion, but will sign subcontracts with private investors and the repair works will be performed, added Valeriu Lazar.
The future “Exhibitions and Trading Center Moldova” in Moscow will become an important instrument for familiarizing the consumers with the Moldovan traditions and culture. In the repaired pavilion, the potential investors will set up restaurants with national dishes and Moldovan wines, bars, shops of handicrafts and clothes with national elements and other recreational units.
