Moldagrotech, Farmer seasonal fairs open at Moldexpo

The 19th Moldagrotech and the 13th Farmer fairs have opened at the Moldexpo Center, bringing together 400 companies from at least 14 countries. The items on display include equipment as well as all sorts of fruit and vegetable species, seedlings, cuttings, plant and flower roots, Info-Prim Neo reports. “This year the yields in the agricultural sector have been quit rich for all the crops. The sell prices are also fair and the farmers seem to be in a better move than in previous years. There are, of course, problems as well, in particular with certain types of subsidies, but we expect they will be solved eventually”, said in his opening speech Alexandru Slusari, the chairman of the National Farmers Association UniAgroProtect. Visiting the exhibitions, Prime Minister Vlad Filat remarked that while farmers work in difficult conditions they manage to overcome their difficulties and show good results. “We can see very good products here and we see the optimism in the participants' eyes. The farmers are pleased with the opportunities that have been created for them, I mean new markets, improved access to loans, including foreign funds which come via the private sector”, said the prime minister. The auxiliary agendas of the fairs include conferences addressing new crop species and the use of renewable energy sources and biomass. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry will present at a seminar the Regulation on Agricultural Subsidization. Competitions for the participants will also take place. The two fairs can be visited until October 24.
