Moldagrotech brings together over 140 producers and processors

More than 140 producers and processors of agricultural products from Moldova and abroad presented their products at the 35th international exhibition Moldagrotech, the autumn edition, that is hosted by Moldexpo. During October 17-20, the visitors of the exhibition can see combines, tractors, sowers and other kinds of equipment and can also purchase fowl, fish, animals and saplings, IPN reports.

The thematic sections Animal Show and Golden Autumn can be visited as part of Moldagrotech and of the specialized fair Farmer. A commission will examine the exhibits and will choose the novelty of the year that will be announced on October 20, when all the diplomas and trophies will be handed over to winners and participants.

“These exhibitions are very important because both the supply and the demand meet here and the producers can find buyers and new markets, can sign different contracts with national and foreign investors. The exhibit is an occasion for promoting the national products, ” said Galina Petrachi, head of the Rural Development Policies and Programs of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment.

Ion Stegărescu, of the company Tehno Ms, said the people are interested in automated equipment as they want to ease their work, both at home or at the farm. The price of a grinder together with a granulator can rise to 19,000 lei. The buyers can pay in installments.

The Institute of Agricultural Machinery presented equipment that protects against disease, pests and weeds. These cost several hundred thousand lei, depending on the volume. The visitors can also see and purchase machines for planting trees and vines and for making granulated fodder. A Belarusian combine outfitted with air conditioning and a fridge, with a manageable steering wheel and an LCD screen attracted many visitors. This is used to gather rape, sunflower, corn and barley and costs over 2 million lei, but the sellers say the quality – price ratio is appropriate.

A separate area is intended for birds, fish and animals. Diana Rotaru, manager of the Barder zoological garden, said the visitors can see a number of species of decorative and meat birds, from the Sebright hen that is about 200 grams in weight to the Brahma roosters that can weigh even 7 kg. The small birds cost 500 lei a pair, while the big ones 500 lei a bird. The last ones are kept for eggs and meat.

The exhibits include the gander-hen of Australia that lives near water and makes sounds similar to those made by pigs. These cost €500 a pair. There were also exhibited Anglo-Nubian goats that are kept for their milk with a fat content of up to 7%. Such a goat costs €600 to €700, but the breeders say this can replace a cow.

The saplings of fruit trees cost 20 to 30 lei, while of decorative trees -80 to 100 lei. A bush of black currant can be bought for 100 lei. Flowers are sold for 25-60 lei.
