The Ministry of the Interior has requested the creation of an emergency response center to deal with the cold spell and snow storms expected during January 7-10.
Minister of the Interior Adrian Efros asked the relevant governmental agencies for cooperation in preventing and responding to incidents, including ones related to traffic, health emergencies, and other response activities.
The public is urged to follow advisories issued by the authorities and comply with any instructions from the police related to behavior in traffic and other recommendations in connection with the snow storms and blizzards.
On January 7, Moldova is expected to be hit by freezing rain and snow. As temperatures will further drop, heavy snow (15-20 l/m2) with blizzards and gusty winds is forecast on January 8. The cold spell is expected to continue until next midweek.
