The modification of the formula for calculating the purchase price of the gas supplied by SAP Gazprom to SA Moldovagaz will not lead to lower gas rates for end users. The National Agency for Energy Regulation said the impact of the change was already included in the structure of regulated prices approved for a calendar year, IPN reports.
According to the Agency, in accordance with the contract signed by Moldovagaz and Gazprom, the purchase price of gas is set monthly depending on the indictors on the Dutch gas trading platform TTF and the mixture of oil products.
For the first and fourth quarters of the calendar year, the formula stipulates 30% of the reference price set by the Front Month indicators on TTF and 70% the mixture of oil products. For the second and third quarters, the formula is inverted as follows: 70% the reference price on TTF and 30% the mixture of oil products.
In 2022, when the stock exchange prices have followed a continues upward trend, the inversion of the formula for the first and fourth quarters of this year ensures a low purchase price of gas for SA Moldovagaz than for the second and third quarters and a substantial difference from the market alternatives. In October, the price for the Moldovan supplier is 1 074$/1 000m3 as opposed to 1 883$/1 000m3 in September, before the modification of the formula.
