The works to modernize the sports grounds inside yards of apartment buildings in Chisinau have started. The sports ground situated at 10 Miron Costin St is the first to be repaired. The grounds will have artificial lawn, will be fenced and will be lit at night.

Contacted by IPN, Vasile Efros, head of the Territorial Development Section of the Public Amenities Division, said the modernization program covers existing sports grounds that will be given a new look. Conditions will be created for playing mini-football and basketball. There will be installed stands for supporters.

Five sports grounds will be repaired this year, by one in each district of Chisinau. Next year the number is to be doubled. In two-three years, the authorities aim to modernize all the sports grounds in the capital city.

The grounds that will be repaired this year are located at: 10 Miron Costin St in Râșcani; 95 Drumul Crucii St in Buiucani; 9/1 Academiei St in Centru; 45 Cuza Vodă Blvd in Botanica and 58 Mircea cel Bătrân Blvd in Ciocana.

About 4 million lei was earmarked for outfitting the five multifunctional sports grounds in Chisinau.
