Modernization of public libraries begins

The first sets of equipment and powerful computers were distributed through districts thanks to the Novoteca program, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a press release of the program, the computers were offered to public libraries in Leova, Orhei, Ungheni, Soroca, Ceadir-Lunga and Causeni. People there will have free access to computers and Internet. The abovementioned libraries will serve as regional training centers, which will train about 100 librarians to make the most of the new technological resources for the benefit of their communities. Novoteca is a pilot-program that will focus for two years on facilitating the people’s access to computers and Internet via the existing network of public libraries. The program will be carried out through the creation of a pilot-network formed of 68 public libraries, which will be provided with advanced equipment for the public’s access to Internet.
