As many as 37 criminal cases have been elucidated since the launch of the Information Analysis Center of the General Police Inspectorate. The Center uses modern software for collecting and systematizing information from files in order to make the work of investigators more efficient, IPN reports.
The 37 elucidated cases include five murders, two murder attempts, 14 robberies and 16 thefts. The statistical data were presented in a conference held to mark the completion of the project to create the given Center.
Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean said that the project was implemented with the support of UNDP, using Romania’s experience. The official underlined that the Ministry of the Interior has a rich cooperation agenda with the Romanian authority.
The project cost US$130,000. The Information Analysis Center has 11 employees. The Ministry of the Interior will ensure their continuous professional formation. In the future, there will be developed the capacities for preventing offenses by analyzing actions and events.
Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau Marius Lazurca said that Romania is ready to continue cooperating with Moldova, while UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova Nicola Harington-Buhay stated that by such projects aimed at combating crime, the experience of other countries can be used to improve work and solve the most serious offences.
The Information Analysis Center deals with serious and very serious offenses whose files are usually very large.
