Mobile team to provide assistance to Hancesti flood victims
A mobile team consisting of 13 specialists will offer psychosocial assistance to the inhabitants of three villages of Hancesti district that were affected by the floods of the summer of 2010, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a roundtable meeting, Tatiana Lungu, head of the Association “Children’s Friends”, said the project is aimed at creating an efficient mechanism for overcoming crisis situations, with special emphasis on the children. The mobile team will travel to Obileni, Nemteni and Leuseni. The specialists intend to promote a mechanism for intervening in emergencies and for dealing with the consequences of natural disasters.
Tatiana Lungu stated that until now the Association carried out a number of activities for children from the disadvantaged areas of the country. One of the implemented projects is the ‘ludobus’, which is a mobile ludotheque that conveys games and creates conditions for the children to spend their free time. “We saw that the children integrate easier in society in such situations. Wee managed to involve parents and teachers in these activities. Everyone welcomed the activities and we decided to continue them,” said the head of the Association “Children’s Friends.
The mobile team will provide psychological and social assistance to the flood victims and will simulate different natural disasters like floods and landslides in order to teach the people what they must do in such situations.
The team will consist of social workers, teachers, psychologists, rescuers and firefighters delegated by the relevant ministries. It will also include representatives of the local public authorities and representatives of NGOs working in Hancesti.
Within the project, there will be opened a summer school for forming psychosocial reactions to emergencies in the first half of June. There will be carried out awareness raising campaigns in Hancesti district and printed a practical guidebook with socioeducative techniques and psychosocial components in crisis situations.
The project “Piloting and Promoting a Psychosocial Reaction to Emergencies Mechanism in Nemteni, Obileni and Leuseni” is implemented with financial support from UNICEF Moldova and in partnership with the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Health. The project will last from April until September.
