As many as 151,000 mobile and landline telephone users have ported numbers during three years and a half. The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology presented the results obtained since the launch of the number portability service in July 2013, IPN reports.

Statistics show that the mobile phone users ported numbers most often. These came to 138,000 or 91% of the total users of the number portability service.

Of the 138,000 mobile phone numbers, 82,000 were ported to Moldcell, over 31,000 to Orange Moldova, while about 23,000 to Moldtelecom.

The number portability service allows the user to retain their telephone communication number when the service provider is changed. Under the Agency’s regulations, any phone user can have the number ported within five working days of the submission of an application to the chosen phone company. The service is free of charge.
