A Mobile Information and Crime Prevention Center launched by the police starts work in Chisinau on November 22. The equipped vehicle was donated by the Federal Government of Germany and cost €56,000, IPN reports.
Daniela Buzatu, division head at the General Public Security Division, said the vehicle will be used by the police in crime prevention activities. The people will be able to submit a complaint or to inform the police about a case at the Center and will not need to go to the police station.
The Mobile Center will have an itinerary set beforehand. This will include densely populated places and places with a higher crime rate.
According to the head of the General Police Inspectorate Alexandru Panzari, through the measures taken with the assistance of the Mobile Center, the police will inform the people in an efficient way to prevent wrongdoings.
Thomas Wagner, of the consular section of the Embassy of Germany in Chisinau, said that Germany supports the Republic of Moldova in the police sector reform and the Mobile Information and Crime Prevention Centers project is designed to help achieve this objective. The Federal Ministry of the Interior in 2016 offered the police in Moldova about €150,000. Another €130,000 was earmarked for this year. The goal is to outfit all the police stations in the country’s regions, including Gagauzia, with such Mobile Centers. The fourth Mobile Center and a motor vehicle to contribute to traffic education are to be purchased next year.
The police now have two Mobile Centers donated earlier. One is managed by the General Public Security Division, while the second by the National Patrolling Inspectorate.
