The number of 4G mobile Internet users in Moldova in the first nine months of this year rose by 42.2% compared with the end of 2017 to 984,200. The number of users of broadband Internet access services (through smartphones and dedicated access through modems/cards) increased by 20.9% to over 2.9 million lei, IPN reports.
According to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology, the volume of traffic in nine months grew by 29.8% to 61.3 million GB compared with the similar period last year. Sales in this sector rose by 17.3% to 779.3 million lei.
The number of customers of the three mobile phone carriers who used 4G mobile Internet through smartphones increased by 45.8% to 889,500 in the period, while of those who used dedicated 4G mobile Internet rose by 15% to 94,700.
The traffic generated by mobile Internet users through smartphones grew by 64.2% to 25.6 million GB, while the traffic generated by those who used dedicated mobile Internet (through modems/cards) increased by 12.9% to 35.7 million GB.
Following the rise in the total sales of mobile Internet access services, the average revenues per user of dedicated mobile Internet in nine months grew by 0.3% to 78.1 lei, while the average revenue per user of mobile Internet through smartphones fell by 2.8% to 27.2 lei.
