Mobias robbery suspect nabbed
The Moldovan police believe they have apprehended the person who is responsible for the robbery of a Mobiasbanca outlet on April 17. The suspect is a 41-year-old male with criminal record, residing in the suburban town of Durlesti, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Alexandru Jizdan, a senior officer at the Interior Ministry, has told a news conference on Friday the suspect was caught yesterday in Dubasari town on the left bank of the Nistru, during an operation held jointly with Transnistrian law enforcement bodies. The suspected robber has already confessed to taking part in the crime, said Jizdan.
Police believe the suspect had an accomplice, also a repeater, who was apprehended on April 22. Later, the police found the Kalashnikov rifle, which was used during the robbery, in an apartment belonging to a relative of the accomplice.
On April 17, the sub-branch no.36 of the commercial bank Mobiasbanca, located in Chisinau on Ioan Voda Street, was attacked by a man armed with an automatic gun, who took 2,000 euros, 2,000 dollars and 83,000 lei.
