MP Vadim Mishin and ex-Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev were elected co-presidents of the yet-to-be-registered political party Renastere-Возрождение (Renewal) at its founding congress on Saturday, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the same congress, MP Oleg Babenko was elected vice president of the party. The party's application for formal registration will be submitted to the Ministry of Justice next week. According to the party, roughly 8,000 persons applied to become members. Territorial branches were already created in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti and in 28 districts. Vadim Mishin urged the delegates gathered at the congress to be active because the future of this political project depended on them. Vasile Tarlev noted in his speech that it was difficult creating a new party because of the people's indifference. The party's emblem features an ascending stork, with wings shaped as the outline of Moldova, against a red foursquare.
