Mircea Surdu named new Moldova 1 director
Mircea Surdu was elected as director of the public TV channel Moldova 1 on December 14. Five of eight members of the Supervisory Board of the National Public Broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova voted for him, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Mircea Surdu took part in the contest together with another five candidates. Ion Terguta gained two votes, while Alexandru Grosu – one vote. The other candidates – Nicu Scorpan, Ghenadie Brega, and Tatiana Bordeianu - won no vote.
The votes for Mircea Surdu were given by Viorica Bogatu (Cucereanu), Larisa Calugaru, Doina Deleu, Raisa Lozinschi-Hadei, and Aurelia Peru-Balan.
In his speech, Mircea Surdu said that the power must understand that is has only one television and must assume responsibility for financing it. Even if the money comes from the Government, it does not mean that it is the Government’s money. It is the people’s money. Mircea Surdu also said that even if the news department was reformed, more changes are needed as there are people who did not manage yet to pass from a boat to another.
Mircea Surdu is a journalist by profession. Currently, he moderates the program “Buna Seara” on Moldova 1. It is the third time that he took part in the contest to fill the post of director of the public TV channel.
