A gymnasium was inaugurated at the Theoretical Lyceum “Mircea Eliade” in Chisinau. The lyceum has never had a sports hall. After the inauguration ribbon was cut, the students showcased their talents in different kinds of sports, such as gymnastics, athletics and dance sport, IPN reports.
According to State Secretary General on education Angela Kutasevich, even if the education institution didn’t have a gym, it obtained good academic results at national level.
Acting mayor of Chisinau Silvia Radu urged the students to go to the gym as often as possible so as to achieve results in sports, as good as in education.
The lyceum’s principal Grigore Vasilache said the students and teachers had waited for a sports hall for 28 years and the fact that this was inaugurated on March 27, when it was celebrated the centenary of the Great Union, is a double occasion for joy.
The lyceum is attended by 1 077 students. The works to build the gymnasium lasted for two years. The costs amounted to 5 million lei.
