Mircea Buga: Acreage pension for first time exceeds minimum substance level

For the first time during the independence years of the Republic of Moldova, the average pension exceeds the minimum substance level. This is an accomplishment of the pension system. Furthermore, this rise is a very clear indicator showing the direction followed by the pension system reform is a correct one, Mircea Buga, the Premier’s senior state consultant in charge of health protection and social development, was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel.

The consultant said the valorization was always aimed at establishing equity in the pension system. “The previous formula of the pension system contained a number of shortcomings applying both to the categories that were favored and to the pensioners whose pensions were determined according to different calculation formulas,” noted Mircea Buga

Secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection Nelea Rusu said the pensions that were raised as a result of valorization will be received by beneficiaries on the payment date, already increased, and these do not need to submit an application. “We now speak about the last valorization stage that is practically the most expensive one as the pensions set in 2014 – 2017 that are recalculated now are larger in size,” she stated.

The old-age and disability pensions set between January 1, 2014 and March 31, 2017 are valorized as of October 1 this year. The pensions of almost 95,000 persons will be valorized at this stage.
