A girl aged 14 from Serpeni village drowned in the Nistru River on May 16. The body of the girl has not been yet found. Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the girl went to the river together with schoolmates to rest. Two girls and three boys remained on the bank of the river towards evening. At about 18.00, the girls went for a swim and were immediately taken by strong currents. The boys managed to rescue only one of them. The efforts made by the rescuers, police officers and frogmen produced no results. The search goes on. A 60-year-old man died from carbon monoxide in a fire caused by a burning cigarette. The tragedy happened in a house annexe in Sangera town of the municipality of Chisinau. Nine persons got drowned and 92 were killed in fires this year.
